It was an exciting night last week at the SUNY Canton fieldhouse when Salmon River and Massena girls volleyball teams became Section 10 Champions. Salmon River started off the night taking on the Potsdam Sandstoners with the Lady Sandstoners winning the first game with a score of 25-16. The Lady Shamrocks regrouped and went to work to win the next three games with scores of 25-22, 25-17, 25-15. This past Friday an Indian taco sale was held to help Erin Francis and myself, Elisha King, raise funds in order for us to continue playing for Team Haudenosaunee Women’s lacrosse. We are responsible for team fees every other month and these fees cover our tournament registration fees, travel and hotels for the various tournaments that we will be attending in preparation for the FIL 2013 World Cup. The Akwesasne Museum once again hosted a Wampum Discussion evening on Wednesday, November 7, 2012. The meeting was held upstairs in the library and was attended by 6 people. On Tuesday, the Tarbell Management Group presented a check to the Akwesasne Cancer Support Group from monies they raised on and around Pink Out Day. On November 9th through the 11th, the St. Lawrence Arts Council held its 25th annual Studio Tour. The tour ranges from Parishville to Akwesasne, and includes some 20 sites along the way. In Akwesasne, artists and crafters gathered at the Seniors Center to display and sell their goods. By my count there were about 12 vendors there Saturday for the studio tour. Eight Community Research Assistants (CRA(s)) from Akwesasne have been trained to properly survey community members for this project.
