AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Council and the Tribal Election Board jointly announced the Name Change Referendum scheduled for Saturday, November 14, 2020 will be postponed. The decision to postpone the referendum is due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19 cases in the Akwesasne community. Their decision will be re-evaluated on a weekly basis and a new date will be provided when it is safe to proceed. AKWESASNE. The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center is reporting five (5) new active cases of COVID-19 since its last update on Friday, November 6, 2020. The new cases bring the total number of active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction to 20, with one (1) case recovering over the weekend.
