  • Book: Untamed

    Delia McDonald|Oct 30, 2008

Another stunning vampire novel, as it seems that this is the year for vampires. If you enjoy a funny vampire love/adventure story, this is for you. Kristen and P.C Cast are quickly becoming two of my favorite authors. Zoey Redbird is back again for the fourth installment of the House of Night Novels. Zoey, the generously gifted fledgling vampire, has gotten herself into yet another bout of trouble. Her mentor and high priestess, or the principal of the House of Night, Neferet, has decided to wage a war against humans for supposedly killing 2...

  • Pile on the embarrassment

    An Anonymous Mother|Oct 30, 2008

I know I have already written about embarrassing things Baby T has lovingly subjected me to. Never on purpose…well if you don’t count the screaming out to strangers that I am not his mother. Now that Baby T is much older the embarrassment is almost what would happen if I were with a friend. Baby T and his dad never feel the embarrassment themselves, then only laugh when something occurs, finding it as funny as a bystander lucky enough to witness it would. Since the time Baby T could talk his dad has made him say the funniest phrases. The one...

  • Witches’ Wart Pumpkins & Jack-O’-Lanterns

    Dr Barbara Gray|Oct 30, 2008

It’s Halloween time, and pumpkins, some decorated or carved, are showing up all over Akwesasne. I have to tell you about the carved pumpkin I saw the other day. It really cracked me up although I also almost gagged, too. On a wooden box was this very large carved pumpkin. It had grimaced shaped eyes, a tweaked nose, and its stringy insides and seeds were pulled out through its round carved mouth! Wow! that was a new one for me, and I have to say it was quite creative. I guess you could call i...

  • Native American Practice of smudging within the correctional Facility

    Oct 30, 2008

Prepared by Thomas R. Porter, Native American Chaplain Before smudging, you should repent or ask forgiveness from the Creator for anything you may have done to offend the Creator. Once you have done this, then you can touch the sage or sweet grass. Smudging is done with sage or sweet grass. A small amount is burnt in a smudge bowl or disposable ashtray. It is lit and then the flame is allowed to go out, or fanned out until only the embers are producing a small amount of smoke similar to a...
