    By Andy Gardner The Massena Raiders swim team easily defeated Potsdam after narrowly losing to Malone three days earlier. Meanwhile, Salmon River had two meets postponed. Lia Lazare swam to two individual first-place finishes and two relay firsts in Massena's home meet against the Potsdam Sandstoners on Friday, Oct. 18. The final score was 61-33. The board approved varsity boys hockey coach Michael Trimboli at a $5,199 salary and assistant coach Kenneth Hurlbut at a $3,614 salary. Chris Lapierre was approved as a boys hockey team volunteer.     By Andy Gardner Despite back-and-forth scoring against St. Lawrence Central on their home turf, the Massena Raiders lost 28-19 to the Larries on Friday, Oct. 18. The Raiders will now head to playoffs at Canton for the Section 10 Class A semi-final game. The winner of that game will play for the Section 10 Class A title the following week in Watertown. Last Wednesday, October 16th under threatening skies, the students of grades four through eight tackled the hills and leaf covered course at Grays Creek in Lancaster for the Bob Nichols run.     By Andy Gardner The New York State Public High School Athletic Association’s executive committee has voted to remove the international tiebreaker rule for state softball regional games. They also voted to allow baseball to implement the 10-run rule with section or league permission. Last weekend the second annual event was played behind the American Legion Post 1479 and the pristine softball diamond was turned into a mud bath.
