The 4 Annual Fall Brawl was played this year with eight teams participating. In a weekend filled with cold weather and some fast moving field lacrosse, these teams kept warm and had a great time while doing so. Teams travelled from Potsdam, Massena and Onondaga to play Saturday and Sunday on the Jacobs Field on Frogtown Road. The field was built in honor of the late Mann Jacobs. MCHS SWIMMING The Massena Lady Raiders recently swam past Gouverneur and Ogdensburg. In Ogdensburg on Oct. 16, Massena claimed all but two events in their 102-68 win. Keely Thompson-Cook took second in the 400-meter, fourth in the 200-meter medley and third in the 200-meter relay races. She also finished second in the 500-meter freestyle endurance race. The last home game of the season is a bittersweet time where seniors say goodbye to the home fans as they get ready to embark onto a new stage in their lives. The varsity girls and boys soccer teams recognized their seniors this past week. Coaches Elizabeth Durfee and Ben Barkley both thanked the parents for the "opportunity and privilege of coaching their children". Mr. Barkley mentioned that many of his seniors he has coached for five years. Each coach stated that they are always a little sad...

SRCS Boys Soccer FA 2, Salmon River 0 On Tuesday, October 13 the Malone Huskies scored the first goal just 3:52 into the first half when Steven Marshall finished off a play set up by Patrick Bilow. With 10:05 left in regulation time, Cooper Law scored off a penalty goal to put the Huskies up 2-0 and that score stood to end the game. Jayson Spaulding and Ethan Dumas shared goal tending duties for the Huskies but did not have any saves to tally. Zach Smith posted nine saves for the Shamrocks....
The Akwesasne Fastbreakers won the WB Goodnow Agency "B" Cup in the 2015 Droppin' the Gloves on Cancer fundraiser. The event raised money to help cancer patients at Massena Memorial and Canton-Potsdam hospitals. This year's event raised $7,000, bringing the gross revenues over the tourney's seven-year history to just over $62,000. The local North Franklin hosted a club from Ottawa last weekend but the guests overstayed their welcome with 8-4 and 6-1 wins. The Ottawa Sting were in town and took both games in Fort Covington Saturday and Sunday. During the round robin phase of the tournament, the Rapids faced the hometown team first. The boys got off to a quick start when James Sullivan scored on a pass from Braxton D'alessio and Ben Pilon. A shutout and a last second finish set the season for the 2015-16 Massena Men's Broomball League for Akwesasne's teams. Last Sunday at the Massena Arena, the Chiefs blanked Open Net/Ole Smokehouse 4-0.
