    Before Baby T could talk I used to wait and long for him to say his first word. And it wasn’t the first word I expected. Yes I was naïve and strongly believed that his first word would be mama or you know calling me something. Nope, it was bubba, then Tota, then dada then daddy. I was a slow fifth in the name game.     The North Franklin M & M Racing soccer team is in its final week of play. We had a great season this year learning many new soccer skills. All of the kids played hard at every practice and game. The team started off with a 3-0 record, recording wins against Chateaugay and Malone (2 different teams).     Congratulations to the Akwesasne lady golfers who won the St. Lawrence County Business Professional Women’s tournament on Saturday, September 27, 2008.     The Mohawk Billiards ACS 8-ball League had their banquet Saturday at the All Inn lounge. The league has helped 30 players qualify for nationals in Las Vegas and Toronto. Trophies & and cash prizes were given out for all of the teams and for individual awards.   • Field lacrosse club formed at new field

    A new fall field lacrosse club called the “Kanienkehaka Krunch” has been formed in Akwesasne. The club was formed by local parents and volunteers who all wanted to keep local youth active in field lacrosse, and who want to keep youth occupied with sports, not drugs or alcohol. The club consists of three divisions, a Modified, Junior Varsity and a Varsity team, ranging from ages from 8-18, with approximately 60 athletes participating.
