  • Multiple Tragedies over the Weekend

    The Akwesasne Mohawk Police report responding to a single motor vehicle accident that occurred in the early morning hours on September 20, 2014 in the district of Tsi Snaihne. The vehicle was traveling East bound on River Road, passed another vehicle East bound and entered the South ditch striking a mailbox and driveway culvert. The accident claimed the life of 21 year old Eli Thompson Jr. Three passengers in the vehicle suffered injuries and were transported to the hospital by ambulance.     On Friday, the Kanatakon School held a bus safety assembly and drill for students. In the gym, transportation staff went over emergency and evacuation procedures students should follow in case of an event like a fire or if the bus tips on its side.
