On Aug. 31, 2009, Central St. Lawrence Valley RCMP Detachment - Valleyfield Office investigators took part in a police operation on the shore of Lake Saint-François in Saint-Anicet, Quebec. The raid resulted in the seizure of 1669 kilograms of contraband tobacco and the arrest of nine suspects. The first day of school is today for St. Regis Mohawk School students and thankfully the student body will be attending their old, familiar facility after a chaotic year that had the entire school –Pre-k through Sixth Grade – relocated to the Salmon River Central School. St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Chiefs James Ransom and Mark Garrow attended a meeting at the White House on Monday, August 31st.
