    On Tursday, August 18, 2022, a community volunteer group cleaning the St. Lawrence Cemetery in the village of Kana:takon discovered a casket in the weeds which has human remains inside. The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne and Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service were notified, and assistance was requested from a local funeral home for properly handling.
