  • One-Year Anniversary Solidarity Speeches on Removal of Toxic Mound from Lands of Onkwehonwe

    Aug 16, 2012

Submitted by Donald Hassig At midday on Friday, August 10, 2012, a black pickup truck suddenly appeared on top of the embankment along State Route 37 above the GM Powertrain Superfund Site entrance. The Onkwehonwe had come. The first words I heard Larry Thompson speak were, “We come in the name of Love.” This is so wonderful!! The next vehicle to arrive was an SUV emblazoned with the words, US Customs and Immigration Service. Shortly after that several cars with Solidarity in Toxic Mound Removal activists pulled up. Eventually, two New Yor...

  • Student Submission

    Montana Adams|Aug 16, 2012

It’s the last week, and we are all wondering how on earth the program went by so fast? Was it the fact that it lasted six weeks, or the fact that we had so much fun learning? We have made friends that will last a lifetime, and memories that will last forever. We are grateful for this opportunity that gave us the experiences we need for schooling, jobs, and choosing a college. We are grateful for the bonds we made and shared with other people and we have learned that we are not alone in a lot o...

  • Camping Chaos

    An Anonymous Mother|Aug 16, 2012

We have been trying to go on a family camping trip for the whole summer. We were trying to hold out for Sandbanks in Ontario but there was never availability. So this past week we finally made our way. We gave up on going to Sandbanks and opted for a few nights in the Adirondack Mountains instead. Everything was packed and our boys were so excited to go on a mini vacation. We made it as far as the edge of Plattsburgh and our truck broke down. We got it towed to a shop nearby and sadly it couldn’t be fixed right away. We decided to get a h...
