  • Fuligo septica, dog vomit fungus

    Dr Barbara Gray|Aug 14, 2008

Several days ago I was taking the back roads to Massena hoping to find some yard sales.  About half way to Massena I finally spotted a sale. As I pulled into the driveway, I saw five people on the opposite side of the house staring intently down at something. I asked them what they were looking at, and they answered that they did not know what it was. They invited me over to take a look, I did, and what I saw was new to me and quite strange. On a mulched area stood one of those lawn statues, a...

  • Book: The Host

    Delia McDonald|Aug 14, 2008

The article this week is a book that I picked because the author is one that I’ve grown to like. My expectations on this book were met ten fold, as I knew they most likely would be. In this novel, the world has been taken over by parasites. Their hosts, the humans, take on their bodies and sometimes their personalities. The humans that have been able avert the Seekers, or the people who sought out the rest of the humans, have been found to be harder for the hosts to control. They realized that the humans block out their memories from the h...

  • Life on the Farm

    Adrian McDonald|Aug 14, 2008

(Editor’s Note: This is a special edition of Life on the Farm. Tales from the Station will continue next week.) This Life on the Farm is going out by request to Shawna. It’s been awhile but some stories just have to be told. I’m going to depart from my usual rule of not mentioning names since all of the people I’m going to mention have gone off to the great green acres in the sky (except Shawna of course). About thirty years ago farming was a way of life around here just as much as working iron. If you travelled down Cook Road, or any of the...

  • He’s waiting

    An Anonymous Mother|Aug 14, 2008

Summer may have flown by for some but not for Baby T. At our house it’s been a slow and rainy summer. One that has left Baby T asking me every other day if today is the day he goes to school. And I always have to give him the same disappointing answer. Nope, not for a few more weeks kid. And then he’ll reply that yeah its time and he just wants to go. When school first let out he was so excited to just stay home with mommy. The last few months at his other school had been an outright challenge in the morning. He would come up with all these exc...
