This weekend Baby T’s grandma invited him to Old Forge, a town with a water park about four hours through the Adirondack Mountains. On Saturday morning Baby T’s dad and I packed up the truck and went to pick up my mother as Baby T kicked his legs excitedly in the back. Grandma sat in the back with Baby T and kept him happy by handing him the cars he would purposely drop on the floor and openening up his snacks for him. We stopped for lunch in a small town that I don’t even know the name of. Then we hit the road again. As luck would have it I fo...
This week the book I chose to read didn’t really appeal to me that much. I found it was lacking a more interesting set of characters. I found them to be a bit too…plain. Sophie Kinsella had an interesting story line but I found it to be just averagely written. It might not have captured me but it may capture someone else. The story begins with a woman named Fleur. Fleur is a gatecrasher, or a person who goes to funerals to meet rich men. At one funeral, she meets Richard, a multimillionaire whose wife has just passed away. Fleur dazzl...

Champs Eastside Boxing Club saw more action on July 19 in Watertown, NY. Philip Hoftyzer of Champs’ Eastside dropped a very close 3-round decision to Chad Hayden of Syracuse, NY. This was a senior mens novice light-heavyweight (178 lbs.) match-up. A very close, hard-fought match. A re-match is in order for the future, Champs officials said. Next to fight was one of Cornwall’s finest, Gary Leger, who is 46-years-old and weighs in at 210 lbs. Gary faced Jeffrey Kloos, who weighed in at a whopping 350 lbs and is 42 years old. This was a sen...

The teams are part of the new Three Nations Series Lacrosse Senior B lacrosse league. The league gives players from Akwesasne, Massena and Cornwall the opportunity to play competitive lacrosse without traveling away from home. Now in the playoff rounds, the first place Muskies team took on the fourth place Mad Mohawks and showed fans that they’ve earned their first place...
Race fans throughout Eastern Ontario, Quebec, the Seaway Valley, and of course Akwesasne are already buzzing about a race that will take place in a few days. “We can’t believe how many race fans have already told us about how they can’t wait for this event”, says Public Relations Director and Co-General Manager Jamie Davis,” The hype has already begun and we are still a week away.” Davis went on to say that he himself is looking at what could be the closest race in North Country stock car racing since he became a fan of racing in 1966...
Persistent showers and thunderstorms throughout the afternoon forced MIR officials to cancel Saturday night’s racing card at Mohawk International Raceway. Even though the skies cleared at around 4:30 p.m., the damage had already been done. Both the pit area and the parking lot area had been saturated with water and promoter Jody Swamp did not want to put both drivers and fans through a muddy mess that had been created by the downpours that had occurred for the better part of the afternoon. The next card of racing is scheduled for Thurs...
