    Submitted by AMPS On July 20, 2010, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service conducted a traffic stop on the East end of Cornwall Island. As a result 30 lbs. of marihuana were located in the vehicle by the officers. The driver, April Dawn Benedict, 32 years of age of Kawehnoke, Ontario and her passenger, Kenneth Jeremy SQUARE, 28 years of age, also of Kawehnoke, Ontario were arrested and transported to the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service station in Kanatakon, Quebec.     On Tuesday, July 20, 2010 Jeremy Jacobs of Kana:takon (St. Regis) caught this 42 lb. muskie with a length of 51 inches. It took him about 10-15 minutes to reel the fish in and he had help from his “net man” Brandon Francis to get the massive fish on board. Family and friends were amazed at the size of the muskie.   • Fire damages St. Hubert BBQ Restaurant

    A fire at Cornwall’s St. Hubert BBQ Restaurant Tuesday evening closed the eatery for the night but it was business as usual by Wednesday. The fire was reportedly in the Brookdale Avenue restaurant’s roof and sign steeple and was called into 911 at around 6 p.m. Cornwall firefighters took roughly three hours to completely extinguish the blaze. All customers and employees were evacuated and no injuries were reported. The restaurant said Wednesday that the inside of the building was not damaged and they remain open for business.
