    The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service is investigating the discovery of a deceased person in the St. Lawrence River on Monday, July 3, 2023, at approximately 2 p.m. The body was recovered in the vicinity of Ross Island, Akwesasne. Ross Island is approximately 20 miles from Akwesasne, located south of Cooper's Marsh. Police are awaiting confirmation from the coroner's office regarding the identity of the individual.
