Authorities in St. Lawrence County have made an arrest in connection with a Stockholm, NY murder that occurred on May 13, 2008. Brian Latulipe, 27 of Bombay, NY, was arrested on Thursday, June 26 and charged with conspiracy to engage in a Hobbs Act robbery. Police said that Latulipe and others who are “known and unknown” to authorities planned to rob Daniel Simonds at his home in Stockholm. On Wednesday, June 18, 2008 the Hogansburg Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department took delivery of a new Fire Engine designated Engine 91. The new Fire Engine was purchased from VRS sales in Round Lake, NY. The Engine was built by Toyne, Inc. located in Breda, Iowa. The new engine went into service on Saturday, June 28, 2008. When I was a child and lived in Cold Spring, NY, I remember my mother did not like spiders. Then one day she witnessed something that changed her mind about them. The place we lived in was constantly infested with tiny reddish colored ants. No matter what she did they kept coming into the house by the thousands. We have had to deal with a lot of old or used trucks in the history of the HAVFD. One of them was a 100 foot ladder truck. This ladder truck had just that, a ladder, that you had to climb! This ladder truck came from the round of military base closings back in the nineties following the first Gulf war. The military downsized and the assets were made available to qualified organizations, that included us as a fire department on a federal Indian reservation.
