    New charges were brought against Jennifer Jackson-Laughing and her husband, Frank Laughing regarding a second document police say was forged. Laughing-Jackson and Laughing were initially arrested in May of this year when a police investigation uncovered that they had allegedly lied about their 4-year-old daughter having colon cancer and had benefited from the lie by collecting donations of money over a 4-5 month period.     The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe will welcome two new faces to Tribal Council this week as Chief-elect Randy Hart and Sub-Chief-elect Shelley Jacobs will officially be sworn into their 3-year terms on Thursday, June 1. Hart and Jacobs were elected by tribal members on June 5. Hart and Jacobs will join the existing members on Council Chief Monica Jacobs, Chief Mark Garrow, Sub-Chief Stacy Adams and Sub-Chief Pam Brown.     The Akwesasne Eagle Watch anti-drug/anti-oxy group recruited some help from real birds last week to help them spread the message that drugs, particularly Oxycontin, can have devastating effects. The group, formerly called the Akwesasne Oxycontin Task Force, invited Jonathan Wood of The Raptor Project to bring his birds of prey to the St. Regis Mohawk School.     A food presentation and entertainment by a Johnny Cash tribute band at the Brass Horse Banquet Hall helped to raise money for Akwesasne’s Hospice volunteers. With an office at the St. Regis Mohawk Senior’s Center - Tsi Tetewatatkens, the Hospice of the North Country has a group of 12 volunteers who serve Akwesasne patients.
