On Saturday, the 2nd annual Music 4 Miracles fundraiser was held at the Brass Horse and there was something for everyone. The day started for the volunteers, and the Border Eagle Riders doing a poker run fundraiser, at about 8:30am. I came across a Mohawk Nation Fundraiser on Sun. June 22nd at the crossroads on Kawehnoke (Cornwall Island). Frank David and his volunteer crew were busy selling delicious ribeye steak sandwiches to raise funds for major repairs needed for the Mohawk Nation longhouse. Nerves and excitement swirled through the air of the Salmon River High School auditorium on the night of the second annual 4-H Mighty Shamrocks "You Got Talent" Show. "I am Appreciated" was the theme on Thursday June 19, as the St. Regis Recreation committee hosted a Bus Driver Appreciation Dinner at the St. Regis Recreation. The main organizers were committee members Laura Thompson and Charity Brad Lazore. The dinner was open to current and retired bus drivers from Salmon River, Massena and AMBE schools. National Aboriginal Day was celebrated last Saturday on Cornwall Island. The Girls Got Game Lacrosse tournament was being held inside the arena, and outside there were activities for the kids and parents alike. Local vendors were on hand demonstrating their artwork and collections, and on stage local young talent were entertaining the crowd. Last Friday the Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club held its annual 'End of the Year Bash', carnival style.
