    AKWESASNE, NY-The New York State Legislature has passed bills that grant expanded jurisdiction to the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Police Department. The State Assembly and State Senate overwhelming voted in favor of legislation that extends the tribal police jurisdiction to an area known as the “Hogansburg (Bombay) Triangle.” New York State Assemblywoman Janet Duprey (R, I-Peru) sponsored the Assembly version of the Bill (A07256) where it passed by a vote of 148-0 on June 9, 2015.     On Saturday, June 13, 2015, the St. Regis Rec Dance Club held their spring dance recital called "Party in the Park." It was held outside at the St. Regis Rec, and the weather was perfect and the turnout was amazing. They had 80 kids register for the Dance Club this season and they ended up with 150 kids!     AKWESASNE, NY - The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Election Board certified the results of the annual tribal elections held on Saturday June 6, 2015. Community members cast ballots for the positions of Tribal Chief, Tribal Sub-Chief and Tribal Clerk for three-year terms. The utility company’s decision is based on individual customers defaulting on their payment arrangements for past due amounts.
