On Wednesday, June 8th, 2016, Kanatakon School students in grades 4, 5, and 6 challenged the Akwesasne Mohawk Police to a game of kickball. The weather was quite chilly and cloudy, but the Kanatakon School students were ready. The game was to begin at 10am and we were to play for one hour. When the police began to arrive, one of the officers informed us that there were only six officers who could attend. That was fine, we were ready for the challenge. The Diabetes Center was host to the third in a series of meetings in hopes to open a detox center in Akwesasne. Two fishermen in Quebec's Lanaudière region have caught an invasive grass carp, raising concerns about the presence of the invasive fish in the St. Lawrence River.
