  • Cecelia Lafrance

    Jun 16, 2011

Taking care of others was a theme of the previous weeks’ Elder Highlight, a theme that will be carried into the selection of Cecelia Lafrance as an elder to highlight. Cecelia has always been a lightening rod for strange happenings. This began at an early age when she first rode the bus to school in Massena and the bus tire fell off, causing all the children to be late for their first day of school. Little did she know then, this mishap would be one of many that she would encounter, especially in her chosen profession in the medical field as a...

    An Anonymous Mother|Jun 16, 2011

After getting off to a slow start this year we finally planted our garden and have been busy with it for the last week. I almost thought the rain would never let up enough for our yard to reasonably dry up. So far our little garden already looks better than our first attempt that was last year. One of my husband’s friends came by with a tractor and plowed our spot. After a few days my husband ran a borrowed tiller through the garden before we went to pick our seeds and tomato and cucumber starters. Sunday was hot and the four of us spent it w...

    Steve Thomas|Jun 16, 2011

On a cloudy Saturday afternoon, the first annual Three Nation’s Cup golf challenge began at the Malone Golf Club, pitting the American, Canadian members versus the Mohawk members of the club. The brainchild of the tournament began after Mike Mitchell and Steve Thomas, both long-term members of the club, played in the annual Can Am tournament pitting the Americans members versus the Canadian members of the club. Seeing the opportunity to further the status of the Mohawk Members at the club, a p...

  • Poirier, Terrance, Evoy, Jackson and Colbert claim top honors at Mohawk International Raceway

    Tim Baltz|Jun 16, 2011

The Mohawk International Raceway track crews spent many hours this week on the racing surface. When it came race time the track was as smooth as glass and with the Empire Super Sprints in town. It sure made for another night of great racing action. The DIRTcar 358 Modifieds took center stage on Saratoga Eagles night. Mike Perrotte and Roy Delormier led the field to Austin Swamp’s green flag with 4 time track champion Perrotte getting the early advantage. It didn’t take long for the first caution to be displayed as Perry Francis broke a front en...
