    Kanatakon School recently celebrated students who maintained perfect attendance as part of the 2016-2017 school year. Students in Headstart to grade six were rewarded with a day at the Aquatic Center and a kickball game and BBQ with local law enforcement officers from the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Police and the Akwesasne Mohawk Police.     All year the students at Kanatakon school have been logging miles in the gym and last week they got rewarded for their efforts. The school had a yearlong Walking to China program. They did daily laps in their gym and the miles they logged were equal to the distance to China.     Several dozen walkers and runners converged on Saturday, June 3 to support the Akwesasne Epilepsy Support Group in their 5K. The event at Generations Park's Tewathahita Trail brought runners and walkers together in a non-competitive event to help boost the group's ongoing projects. Recently, a well-intentioned individual attempted to dispose of a paint can with the rest of their recyclable materials.
