Over the weekend, the Girls Got Game Tournament was hosted by the Akwesasne Women Warriors at the Anowara’kowa Arena. The fourth annual tournament is hosted every year here in Akwesasne, and features as many as 7 teams from their league. This year five of the seven teams came down to play, including the newest team, the Kahnawake Ladyhawks. The 2013 girls varsity lacrosse team is the first team in Section 10 history to win a state tournament game when it held on to win the opening round game against Section 4 champs, Maine-Endwell, 12-11, at Vestal High School. An online petition has been started to help the Haudenosaunee in their effort to be restored to their justifiably rightful spot in the Blue Division. Without question, the Nationals are one of the Top 3 national teams in the world, along with the U.S. and Canada.
