    Both the Massena varsity baseball and softball teams had their seasons ended in Section 10 title games against Malone by a single run. The softball team, playing Franklin Academy at SUNY Potsdam on Tuesday, May 23, fell behind 5-0 in the second inning but then answered with an 11-run rally. Malone came back in the sixth inning with a seven-run barrage for a 12-11 final score. Massena's Amber Thomas, who was stuck with the loss, pitched for 10 strikeouts and 15 hits.     The kids were getting geared up to carry on the Akwesasne vs. Kahnawake lacrosse rivalry and the latest clash was last weekend on Kawehnoke.     The 2017 Cornwall District Soccer league began last week. Both Akwesasne teams – the Lady Devils and Stars won their games – and both by the same 5-2 score. At Long Sault the Lady Devils, behind Iastha Porter's three goals, defeated McLeans Block. Jenna Prieur and Lady Devils' addition Karley Cree scored one each. At the American Legion in Hogansburg as part of the Memorial Day weekend festivities the teams held an exhibition game. And just as last summer, it was good times.
