Monday, May 25, 2015 turned out to be a beautiful day for a parade. The American Legion, Post 1479 held their annual Memorial Day Parade. This year's theme was "Catch a Veteran and Tell Them Niawen". The parade started at the Hogansburg bridge with a wreath ceremony which included American Legion Commander Mike Cook and Chaplain Pete Sunday and representatives from the Viet Nam Vets/Legacy Vets, Pete Gollinger and Ron Garrow. The Akwesasne Mohawk Police would like to remind community members to be aware of telephone calls or emails that claim to be from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) but are not. These are phishing and other fraudulent scams that could result in identity and financial theft. A welcome to a visitor, Elvis Aaron Najar from Greenfield, California. He is a brother to Ricardo Najar and friend to Karakwenta Lazore and is visiting Ahkwesahsne for two weeks.
