    In Sr. B Lacrosse action the Cornwall Island Redmen overcame the Snake Island Muskies 13-10 last Wednesday night in Massena. The first period saw a 5-goal run by the Redmen early in the first period with 2 goals by Brandon Swamp, 2 goals by Trevin Thompson, and a single from Andrew Lazore within the first twelve minutes of the game. The Muskies countered with a goal by Kyle Point at 13:58 and by Ian Mitchell at 17:26 closing out their first period in scoring.     The Mohawk Chicks, Mel Herne, Steph Smoke, Kelly Cook and Corrine Johnson, won the B division of the Canadian 8-ball Championships in Toronto on April 22-23, 2011. They played the first match against “We don’t know yet” and won 9-4. Next up was “Felt-on-Table”, the Mohawk Chicks won 9-5. They defeated “T&A” 9-5, and then “Da Gurls” 9-4.     On Tuesday May 10th the Norwood-Norfolk Flyers track team was in town and earned an NAC win over the Massena Red Raiders . In the boys meet the Flyers finished first with a score of 135-106 and nine first place finishes. Massena was led by seniors Travis Ashlaw and Anto Almasian. Ashlaw claimed wins in the 110m hurdles in a time of 16.7 seconds and the 400m with a time of 54.4 seconds. He also posted a win in the high jump with 5’8”.     The Kahnawake Mohawks fell to 1-1 on the season after losing 12-5 at the hands of the Akwesasne Braves on Friday night at the Kahnawake Sports Complex. The Mohawks game on Sunday against the West End Warlocks, as well the Caughnawaga Indians home against the Warlocks were cancelled. The Quebec Senior Lacrosse League will have a special meeting on Tuesday to determine the Warlocks’ future.     Norm Pomainville is the 2011 Annual Without Violence Award Scholarship’ Fundraiser 8-Ball Pool Tournament champion. The fundraising event was held at Rack-Em-Up Billiards in Cornwall on April 30. Pomainville remained undefeated throughout the tournament with a win over Randy O’Byrne in the final match.     On Wednesday, May 11, the Massena Lady Red Raiders played host to the Salmon River Lady Shamrocks. It was also senior night for the Lady Raiders. This was the last game of their high school lacrosse career on the Mike Nicholas Field. In the first half the Lady Raiders built a 12-2 lead and went on to win 18-4.
