    A Salmon River cross country and track runner has been chosen to be among 200 athletes and will represent New York state in the 30th Down Under Sports Tournament in Australia later in the summer.     The Grand Reopening of the Ànowaràkowa Arena took place on May 9th, at 12 pm. After the arena suffered major damage caused by a fire, the entire facility was shut down and all operations came to stop. Although the fire only happened in one of the dressing rooms, it affected the entire facility and the community of Akwesasne.     (Onerahtohko:wa/May 12, 2018) On Saturday, May 12, 2018, the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne held a Special General Meeting and secret ballot vote to accept or reject proposed changes to the Akwesasne Election Law. A total of 29 voters participated, responding to the question: Do you accept the Akwesasne Election Law 2017? Results: There were 17 NO votes and 12 YES votes.
