To the editor: What can we do to alert and stop these drivers from not using their cell phones while driving? What else can we do if they ignore the signs when you are pointing at the signs for them to look and not pick up their phone to answer? It’s a no phone zone. Did you watch Oprah on Friday, April 30th, 2010. She had gotten around twenty states and cities to ban using their cell phones while driving. Can we do the same thing here? Sure we can. • Letter to the Editor

    May 13, 2010

Letter to the Editor, My name is Tom Porter, and I have spent my life upholding the ideals of a traditional Mohawk. I write this letter because I am making an exception to that policy, and encouraging all persons who are eligible and do participate, to vote for Randy Hart, on June 5, 2010. I have known Randy since he was an infant. I have watched him become a person who is honest, hardworking and fair. Randy is an objective person, he does not react to...

  • Dear Editor

In saying that, I disagree with Mr. Terrance as he asserts we should abandon our plan to exit the National Grid distribution system in favor of building a wind and/or solar power supply system. My reasons are pretty simple. Mr. Terrance’s plan will raise our electric bills, not lower them. That is because the cost to deliver electricity to our homes is much higher than what we pay f...

  • Dear Editor

    May 13, 2010

Dear Editor, What are the most important qualities a leader needs? I believe its honesty, integrity, humility and a vision for the future. And to be a leader of an Indian nation, add on to the list a willingness and inner strength to defend our sovereignty and a dedication to strengthen our community and culture. Truthfully, it’s rare to find someone with all those qualities who also has the desire and courage to work in the rough and tumble world of tribal politics. However, our Tribe has the opportunity to elect an individual who possesses th...
