This year’s Senior Games took place on Monday, May 13, at the Seniors Center in Hogansburg. The event is held every year “right after Mother’s Day, for around 11 years,” according to Co-Organizer Judy Cole. Elders who attended were treated to snacks and lunch, as well as activities. On Friday, students at the St. Regis Mohawk School traveled to Salmon River to participate in the 5th annual Class Olympics, which rounded out a week of events like crazy hair day, jersey day and mismatch day. On Tuesday, April 30th, Nicole Hart was sitting in her Earth Science class at Salmon River when the Grim Reaper came through the doorway and led her away. For the rest of the day she had to wear a black t-shirt and a sign around her neck that stated how she died and she could not talk to anyone. The response was amazing and all the spots were booked quickly. The SpayNeuterNow mobile clinic was set up at the Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club for the day. KASHECHEWAN EVACUEES RETURN HOME Cornwall’s guests from up north bid the city good-bye last Thursday and returned home to Kashechewan, Ontario. About 360 evacuees boarded 10 flights departing from the Cornwall Regional Airport. The first flight departed shortly after 11:30 am.
