The Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis was the site for the Robotics Competition named FIRST, which stands for ‘For Inspiration Recognition of Science and Technology’. A team of 5th and 6th graders from Jefferson Elementary School had advanced to the national level. The team is called the Jefferson Jaguars Robotics Team. The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Police held the first Drug Disposal Day this past Saturday morning. In total 4 boxes (1’X3’) were filled with expired medication from Akwesasne’s medicine cabinets. Community members drove up and handed over a few pills at a time while in some cases full gallon ziplock bags of unused medication. For the second time in a row, the North Country Wild Hockey team takes 1st place! This past weekend the Wild hit the road to the Green Mountains of Vermont for the Green Mountains of Vermont Avalanche Spring Hockey Tournament. The boys played hard all weekend coming off with 1 tie and 3 shut outs. This put the boys in the 1st place seed as they waited to see who they played for the Championship. On Tuesday April 29th and Wednesday the 30th, the Massena Red Raiders hosted the St. Lawrence Larries. It took two days to play the game due to a thunderstorm that suspended the game on Tuesday. One minute and thirty-three seconds remained in the first half when the game was suspended and the score stood at 9-4. The Larries led 10-5 going into the third quarter. There have been 8 recipients selected to enter the hall for this year, 4 individuals and 4 teams that have passed through the halls of Salmon River Central School. On Tuesday April 26th the Lady Raiders continued their unbeaten season with a sixth straight win when they defeated Saranac Lake 20-9. Massena led 11-6 at halftime and rallied on in the second half for the win on their home field. Erin Francis led the Massena attack with six goals and four assists.
