My Friend, who was also a Daughter, Sister, Wife, Aunt, Cousin, Mother and Grandmother, I am still in disbelief of your passing, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. • Living in a Time of Predicted Changes

    Doug George Kanentiio|May 3, 2012

One of the more remarkable things about Mohawk culture and its teachings are the set of teachings referred to as prophecies. From the formation of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy to the present time there have been those who possess the ability to see beyond their time and witness events, which, if correct, will affect not only the Mohawks but all of humanity. That we are in a time of profound social and technological change is certain. That our current resource-exploitative lifestyles are affecting the planet in dramatic ways is also beyond...

  • Letter to the Editor

    May 3, 2012

Letter to the Editor, Article on Kateri Tekakwitha (Vol. 30#15 April 12, 2012) It is mentioned that she developed new skills as a healer/seer for her village as a result of her past sickness. If she was a healer, the Jesuits would have probably ran away from her suspecting some form of sorcery or witchcraft. As a seer, only at her death bed that she knew when she was going to die. Nowhere in the writings of the Jesuits do we run across these “gifts”. I have also read more than 10 books on Kat...
