    An Investigation on tobacco smuggling by the Surete du Quebec, in collaboration with its Canadian and U.S. partners, made several arrests on Wednesday April 30 as part of the largest investigation of contraband tobacco ever undertaken in North America.     TERRITORY OF AKWESASNE – The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne (MCA) conducted a community plebiscite this past month to collect the community’s opinion on what should become of the Kawehno:ke (Cornwall Island) corridor buildings. For a period of twelve days, community members were able to cast votes from home using online voting.     The Akwesasne Coalition for Community Empowerment, a collaboration of Akwesasne's community service programs and agency representatives sponsored the second, "Me and My Guy Dance."     On Saturday, the Akwesasne Youth Leadership (AYL) in conjunction with Kanenhi:io Ionkwaiontonhakie held a Youth Planting Workshop. At least a dozen kids took part. They learned planting methods, how to start and save seeds, the benefits of organic growing, companion planting, composting, medicine plants and did a variety of hands-on activities like making corn mush, planting seeds and building a simple trellis.
