Many players mention how they enjoy the league and that they like to be able to go places like Toronto and Las Vegas to compete against others.     The Salmon River Girls 11th grade and under team and 9th grade and under teams traveled to Peru, NY this past (April 24-25, 2010) weekend for a basketball tournament. The 11U Team faced fierce competition playing against North East Clinton, Peru Central and All-Star Team from Montreal. The girls did their best, but fell short in the round robin tournament and were eliminated during the second round.     The Akwesasne Thunderbirds opened the 2010 lacrosse season with a bang on Apr. 24 by declaring victory over defending Quebec Senior Lacrosse League champions the Kahnawa:ke Mohawks with a final score of 12-10. The Thunderbirds stormed forward early on with a score of 5-0 and ending the first period well in advance of the Mohawks with an impressive 7-1.     On Apr. 25 the Massena Girls Raiders Varsity and Modified Lacrosse teams held a benefit breakfast at the Elks Lodge in Massena, NY. The Massena girls lacrosse program is only three years old and still developing and the Elks have hosted a benefit breakfast for them each year.     Submitted Salmon River Varsity Lacrosse team made a trip to Buffalo to play Gowanda High School (Cattaraugus Territory) on Friday April 23 under the lights at 7pm. Salmon put the ball into the net 19 times to defeat Gowanda 19-10. Top scorers were Seth Oakes, Kevin Davey and Hank Delisle.     On Friday, Massena matched up with Ogdensburg for a very exciting game. The two teams are talented and displayed a very good game for all the spectators at Mike Nicholas Field. The Massena girls are now at a 2-2 standing as of Friday. Coached by Jeff Slack and Richard Gabri, the team looks very disciplined.
