Do we even post qualifications; apparently there are none needed. When we as a community had to begin looking into a structure in which to organize o...

To the editor; I want my Bears Back Last year sometime one of the Tribal Council members decided that the Dancing Bears (metal sculptures) at the Mohawk Casino were not culturally appropriate and had them taken down and hidden from view. I think that was a wrong move, I like those bears. The Bear Clan is charged with managing our medicines. And what is the best medicine? Laughter. Brad Bonaparte, the creator of those Bears meant them to be happy. Those Bears are meant to look kind of silly they are having a good time. And who says bears...

Submitted by Carolyn Francis Down on their knees, heads huddled together, families and friends laughed while they worked intently on their best Picasso-like projects. Nearby a family whose normal version of quality time is drive time in the car, stepped back to admire their masterpiece. Fun with chalk and camaraderie was going at the first sidewalk chalk competition. Ten families came bundled in warm clothing to draw their art pieces on the asphalt of the IGA parking lot, the weather was cold...

In the last two articles I have reviewed the idea that the body is actually a walking lie detector. Just like a police lie detector situation, the body provides very clear stress signals when a lie is being lived. All stress drains the body of energy. Chronic stress will manifest as physical deformities of the body. The body defines a lie as anything that will end its’ life prematurely. The body defines truth as anything that will extend its’ life. The body uses pain/stress to signal that a lie is being experienced. The body uses pleasure/happi...
As obsessed as Americans are with dieting, you’d think we’d be thin and healthy by now. But as obesity rates and diet-related illnesses like diabetes and heart disease continue to rise, many nutrition experts and health professionals are advocating a gut-level approach to food. Rather than mindlessly following the latest dietary advice or bouncing from fad to fad, they say, tune in to your own body to find out when you’re hungry and what to eat. “Intuitive eating is being able to eat when you’re hungry and stop when you’re full,” says Evelyn T...

Continued from last week. The individual councils which have been described as treaties had well-defined processes. They can be described and documented, as can the fact that the British understood, accepted and used those processes. These councils, though, were not isolated incidents, but part of a dynamic stream, a continuing and increasingly well-defined relationship. Beyond that relationship, the impact that each side had on the world of the other is equally important. The spirit of the Kayanerekowa—seeking peace and power through the G...
