NYS Attorney General Schneiderman announced that his office has discovered high lead levels in parts of several children’s jewelry-making kits supplied by LaRose Industries and sold in Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target, Toys-R-Us in Syracuse, Buffalo, Rochester areas and in the Long Island, New York City area. Through community input, the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne has approved Statistics Canada census canvassers to survey households in the northern districts of Akwesasne. Participation of this survey is voluntary; therefore, every community member has the option to participate or not to participate in the census when canvassers survey households.
