Since 2001, the annual language shows have been in existence within our Ahkwesahsne community. Tentewakieronnion means "let's act", and students act out themes through skits to help celebrate the continued existence and survival of our Kanienkeha language. It is an event that is shared by many age groups throughout our community and all have been very enjoyable. Students within the Skawatsira Program in Kanatakon sponsored the events, and invites other schools and territories to take part....

Early in the spring, when the snow is still on the ground and the sun is struggling to shine, people from Akwesasne gather and a speaker is selected to burn tobacco to give thanks for all life. At this time of year, words are spoken and directed to the leader of trees, the Maple tree. As the warmer weather awakens all living plants and the sap begins to run, it is proof the maple tree continues to perform the instructions in which the trees were given. Ironworkers made it through the coldest winter in decades to continue the deconstruction of the Cornwall Bridge. Each day brings major changes to the landscape where the massive Cornwall Bridge once stood. AKWESASNE – Mr. Darrell E. Cook, known to many as "Buzzy", 46, Snipe Clan, of Racquette Point Road, formerly of Camden, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 2, 2015 at Massena Memorial after a two year battle with cancer. Buzzy was born March 12, 1969 the son of the late Arthur "Chubby" Cook and Evelyn Wheeler. He lived in Camden for most of his life, returning to Akwesasne in January. The Native North American Travelling College is seeking submissions for our next exhibit featuring all forms of artwork related to wampum. Artworks can include paintings, sculpture, crafts and replica wampum belts. This spring exhibit will demonstrate the importance of wampum to the Haudenosaunee. The Let's Get Healthy Program celebrated National Nutrition Month in March by hosting a variety of food & nutrition events. The Easter Bunny came a few days early and had the parking lot at the St. Regis Recreation center turned into a free for all. The St. Regis Recreation committee hosted the Annual Easter Egg Hunt and the place was packed with excited children from toddlers up.
