    The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Animal Control Officer Derek Comins assisted in the capture of what officials believe is a wolf-dog hybrid that was roaming in the Tarbell Road area of Akwesasne. The animal is currently being held in captivity and blood and fur samples have been sent away to determine its DNA makeup.     To our family members at Akwesasne, We write this letter in memory of our wife and mother Shirley Wheeler Lazore. A family is so important and we wanted people to know how much we appreciated them and all they did for us. In 2005 Shirley Wheeler Lazore was diagnosed with lung cancer. Over the course of the next couple of years she did pretty well with a low dosage chemo pill and remained fairly stable.     North Country dogs and cats were excited, terrified or furious last week to be taken by their owners to the Hogansburg-Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department for a free rabies vaccination clinic.     The Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club brought the kids out to the visit the Sugar Shack, in Hogansburg last week. This was a trip for their cultural class that is held weekly, for each age group. The group was able to see how they tap the trees to get the sap, along with the long heating process as well as how much work it requires to make just one gallon of maple syrup.
