The Akwesasne Mohawk Police are investigating after the bodies of six (6) deceased individuals were located during an air search this afternoon with assistance from the Canadian Coast Guard. The first body was located around 5:00 P.M. in a marsh area in Tsi Snaihne (Snye) Akwesasne. The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne is devastated to share the update that a total of eight individuals including a toddler and infant have passed away in the waters of Akwesasne. The eight individuals were from two families of Romanian and Indian descent, with the two children having Canadian citizenship.
