    Cigarette smokers visiting any Akwesasne convenience store Wednesday to fill up on their tobacco goods were taken aback at an unexpected jump in prices. Based on off-reservation taxation action, the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Compliance Department ordered Akwesasne stores to raise their prices on both Native and non-Native cigarettes. Following a meeting with Akwesasne stores and the SRMT’s Compliance Dept. on Tuesday, stores were notified to raise prices on all major brands by $5.90. A carton of Marlboro had previously cost $39.     Representatives from the Men’s Council of the Longhouse in Hogansburg hung signs and flags in the town of Fort Covington Tuesday afternoon, peacefully making a statement that the land there has always belonged to Mohawks. “It’s just to let them know that this is Indian land,” stated Kanarahtiio Jock.     Students at General Vanier Intermediate School now have access to an interactive computer program that will help to teach the Mohawk language through voice recordings, pronunciation break-downs and a large network learning system.     I had a dilemma when I had a cut on the top of my thumb.  It just wouldn’t heal and really hurt.  I finally came up with the bright idea of using crazy glue on it.  That would hold it together and still cover it until it healed.  Crazy glue comes in a round container containing four one-use only tubes.  I punched a hole in one of the aluminum vials and used that to cover my thumb and put the small white plastic cover back on.  Then later in the day I thought I’d give myself another protective coat.  I got out the vial I used earlier and held...
