Submitted by Tom Smart This past weekend the North Franklin Shamrocks Squirt/Atom AA '05 team completed a very successful 2015-2016 season by competing and winning the Can/Am Peewee AA division in Lake Placid. They started off the weekend by defeating Bridgewater Peewee out of Boston area 10-1. Game two the Shamrocks defeated Clifton Park Dynamo Peewee 7-2. After narrowly taking the Section 10 Division I championship, the Massena boys varsity hockey team’s season came to an end against Section 1 champs Mamaroneck. In the Division I title matchup, Massena bested Canton 3-2 in overtime on Feb. 29. Canton scored the opening goal just over a minute into the contest, assisted by Garrett Glasgow and Cole Moore. Last weekend the two Akwesasne-based teams kept up their winning ways with the Chiefs defeating Bowlmor and the Ice Pigs winning over Nez Construction. The Massena Broomball Men's league concludes this weekend and fittingly the final night of the regular season puts the Chiefs and Ice Pigs against each other. The Stars Indoor soccer club with a core of Akwesasne players went undefeated during the 2015-16 Cornwall Indoor Soccer season going 9-0-1 with that tie being a scoreless game.
