    The HAVFD held their annual dinner and awards ceremony on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the Brass Horse Grill. The evening started with cocktails at 5 followed by a prime rib dinner catered by ESP Catering. The event was attended by about 150 people, including family members and members of surrounding fire departments, including Bombay, Malone and Moira. The HAVFD has several mutual aid agreements with surrounding communities to take a teamwork approach to fire fighting, fire safety and rescue....

    The Akwesasne community was treated to the NHL Native Alumni Team and the Akwesasne Stars on March 5, 2016. Spectators of all ages came out on this mild March day to share the event at the A'nowarako:wa Arena. The organizations that sponsored the game were Tehotiiennawakon Department and Mohawk Council of Ahkwesahsne.     The Akwesasne Learn to Skate Club, with the help of our community, hosted a raffle at the Turtle arena that benefited the local H.A.V.F.D. Fire Station # 2. The prize was an autographed hockey stick signed by the NHL Alumni. Recently Fire Station # 2 was vandalized and the Akwesasne Learn to Skate Club, with the help of our sponsors Mohawk Vision and Rookez-Edge Source for Sports, wanted to give back to the local Fire Station # 2 for all they do for the community of Akwesasne.     Each year the Akwesasne Task Force on the Environment (ATFE) hosts a tree pruning workshop to teach community members how to care for their fruit trees. On Saturday, March 5, this workshop was held behind the Akwesasne Library and Museum at an orchard that was originally planted by the late Solomon Cook.
