Recall candidate Hillary Clinton's remarks during the 2016 campaign debates. She called Donald "Putin's Puppet." He was dumb-founded for a minute or two, and all he could offer as a response was: "I am not a puppet." Since then, he has shown his true "color" at numerous summits around the world and locally. The media has adopted the nickname "Putin's Puppet" since then. Even Queen E. II laid down special rules at Prince Harry's wedding – to ignore Blondie on their invitation list. Or anyone f...

  • Construction Damage: The Root of the Problem

    Feb 28, 2019

Submitted by Paul Hetzler, ISA Certified Arborist Traditionally, spring is a frenzy of flowers, returning songbirds, and also of backhoes and construction projects. It is in the best interest of developers, planners, and citizens alike to protect mature trees from damage during construction. Unfortunately, a great many tree-preservation efforts fail in the end, but not due to lack of political will or good intentions. The issue is that brilliant engineers, architects, landscape designers, and community activists are rarely also experts in tree...

  • What the Fork?

    Feb 28, 2019

By Gourmet May My sister has been telling me that the easiest way to use up leftovers from the week and make a quick meal for the family is whip-up a pot of soup. I have no idea what the first step is for making soup, or what even where the broth comes from. My earlier attempt at making Miss Kay’s soup from the book was a bad experience. How am I supposed to know which leftovers to use up and still make the soup taste delicious? Time to get cooking. I had just picked up one of those Good Food Bags from the Health Services Outreach/Nutrition p...
