Friday, February 13th, 2015 from 4:00-5:00pm Walking With Our Sisters is a Commemorative Art Installation for the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women of Canada and the USA. The installation is a traveling exhibit of beautiful beaded vamps that has been scheduled to come to Akwesasne: November 6th-27th of 2015 at the Kawehnoke Recreation Center. With this fundraiser and many others, our goal is to raise about $10,000 within the year to cover the costs of food, travel, shipping, tape and all other workshop needs. This event will take place the 2nd weekend in March this year in Malone, N.Y. and consists of teams made up of men, women and children. It is a fun weekend for everyone who participates and all the proceeds go to the Make A Wish Foundation of Northeast New York, which is used for “Special Wishes” for children with life-threatening illnesses in our area. The Salmon River boys' hockey squad had a busy hockey week with only one day of rest in between games. The Shamrocks were scheduled to play the Islanders on Monday February 2nd, but the game was cancelled due to bad weather. The game was rescheduled for the next night on Tuesday.
