The SRC Shamrocks ended their season with a loss to Potsdam in front of a huge crowd of supporters. Karen Francis and Bill Cook are the coaches of these girls and will be losing 5 to graduation in June. A team to lose five players is a lot and we will see the remaining players pick up and build another good team. On Feb. 12, some senior artists displayed their original paintings in the sun room at the Seniors Center in Hogansburg. All pieces were created by seniors who have been participating in monthly art classes taught by Sherly Barse from Brushton. The group has been meeting regularly from 1-3pm in the sun room the last Friday of every month. The artwork on display were from many of their class projects. Cornwall Collegiate Vocational School (CCVS) Raiders Girls Volleyball played against St. Joseph’s Catholic Secondary School (SJCSS) Panthers on home turf in Cornwall on Feb. 19. The team, lead by Coaches Romaine Mitchell and Barry Brown, let the Panthers know early in the game that they meant business. NAGA is the largest grappling tournament in the country with over 1000 competitors competing for gold. Eight competitors went down and all of them brought back medals. Coree Phillips is 16 years old, in grade 11 at Massena Central High School (MCHS) and an avid soccer player. A few years ago she was featured in Indian Time Newspaper as an up and coming athlete to watch and she has kept true to those expectations. The Potsdam College girls went to play hockey at the State University Field House on Wednesday February 17th, only to fall to the Cardinals 8-0. The Plattsburgh team is a very talented one and is ranked first in their division so far.
