    Feb 22, 2024

By Nicholas K. Geranios. Fifty years ago, a federal judge in Western Washington issued a decision that dramatically improved the economic – and legal – prospects of Indigenous nations within the state. U.S. District Judge George Hugo Boldt ruled on Feb. 12, 1974, that Native Americans were entitled to half the salmon catch in the state because of treaties signed a century before. • Basic Call to Consciousness

    Feb 22, 2024

Continued from last week. By pretending that the Haudenosaunee government no longer exists, both the U.S. and Britain illegally took Haudenosaunee territories by simply saying the territories belong to them. To this day, Canada, the former colony of England, has never made a treaty for the lands in the St. Lawrence River Valley. But the truth continues to remain and plagued officials yet today. The Haudenosaunee territories are not and have never been part of the U. S. or Canada. The citizens of the Haudenosaunee are a separate people,...

By: Libby Leonard. Slow fashion aims to make consumers reevaluate their relationship to clothes and align with consumption habits and brands that better serve the planet. The apparel and footwear industries contribute to an estimated 8% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions, with fashion being the third-highest polluting industry in the world. To reduce textile waste and pollution, slow fashion favors slower production schedules, smaller collections of clothing lines, zero-waste designs and the use of sustainable materials. • Entertainment Binge

    Feb 22, 2024

By Isaac White. I’m at a standstill with viewing material. Like I said last week, I had been on a good run of remarkable films and television to review. That’s not to say this week will be full of stinkers. My offerings are good, but for one, and I’ll explain that when we get there. This is one of those weeks where I feel blank. The Niners losing in s...
