    The Salmon River Lady Shamrocks hockey season recently came to an end in the 2018 NYSPHSAA tournament championship at SUNY Oswego. Meanwhile, the Shamrocks boys varsity hockey and basketball teams, along with the Massena boys hockey team closed out their regular seasons, and the varsity basketball teams each lost in Class B playoffs.     The Salmon River Shamrocks boys hockey team on Feb. 14 honored six senior members of their team who are playing their last season with the green and white. Those recognized include defenseman Tehakwirakarenrons McDonald, forward Preston Benedict, forward Kenan Herne, forward Jacob Cook, forward Gage King-Gorman and forward Dylan Wylie.     Thirteen years ago, the Salmon River Boys Hockey community lost a great fan and supporter. Wayne Castor had passed onto the spirit world but he left behind a legacy of support and loyalty of what it means to be a true fan of high school hockey.     Thank you At the final buzzer of the 2017-2018 season, we were dubbed 2nd in NY State. We would not have been able to do it without the tremendous support of the Salmon River community. It all started in Potsdam when it felt like we were playing at the Tom Cavanaugh Arena because when you looked at the stands you saw a sea of green.
