    Last weekend the Tsi Snaihne Recreation hosted the 26th Annual Akwesasne Carnival. The events kicked off with the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne versus the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe Challenge, where the two competed in a series of games. It was a very close tie, and had to go into two tiebreakers before announcing that Mohawk Council was the winner.     The University of Ottawa held their 10th Annual Snow Festival from February 5 to February 10, 2017. A variety of events included igloo building, a free music show, free curling, a sugar bush meal, chocolate tastings, a winter fashion show and free public skating. The theme for the Snow Festival was celebrating Aboriginal heritage with First Nation's singing and dancing featuring Inuit singers.     Our Seniors Benefit Committee met with Tribal Council on February 3, 2017 to select people who would be asked to sit on the Seniors Benefit Working Group. A call out was made to the membership with an end date of January 27, 2017. The Committee was NOT given a forewarning of how the selection was going to run so we were totally unprepared. However, we did not want to put off getting the process moving forward so we agreed to continue. We had already heard that Council was going to place people on the working group whether we wanted them or not....

    Quilters Fat Quarter Bingo was an event held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 during the 26th Akwesasne Winter Carnival at the Snye Recreation Center. We are so honored to have received 20 quilts from our generous quilters. These will be divided between Iakhihsohtha and Tsiionkwanonhso:te for our Elders.
