    Chicken Preparation: 1 4 lb broiler or roasting chicken 2 quarts water or chicken broth 1 teaspoon bouillon powder 2 tablespoons fresh parsley 1 onion, whole 1 bay leaf (optional) 2-3 cloves garlic, crushed pinch of black pepper 1/2 lb baby carrots 2-3 stalks celery, whole, plus leaves Wash chicken, inside and out.     Here I am about to spend my fourth night at home. I cannot believe it but I came home pretty early. On the second day after my new son’s birth, I was on my way home. I had expected to be at the hospital for at least three maybe four days. Surprisingly I wanted to come home the day early.   • Boot hockey tournament held for Madisen Mitchell

    The Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club held a boot hockey tournament on Saturday, Jan. 24 to benefit Madisen Mitchell. Madisen is the daughter of Kelly and Theresa Mitchell and her family is raising money for her to undergo expensive stem cell procedures in the Caribbean. The club hosted a double-elimination tournament, on the ice rinks made in the parking lot. There were a number of teams that participated.     The SUNY Potsdam women’s hockey team lost the second game in its short series with Elmira 8-0 on Saturday afternoon at Maxcy Hall Arena. The Bears fall to 3-9-2 on the season. The Soaring Eagles struck quickly scoring just 25 seconds into the game. On Elmira’s second goal of the game, Kayla Coady shot one that deflected off Potsdam goaltender Hillary Hitchman and was then put in by Lauryn Depaul.  Elmira would add one more goal with 24 seconds left in the period.     Pool 4 Kids will continue again with the Akwesasne Billiards Club at the Akwesasne Boys and Girls Club and the Snye Recreation for 8 weeks of pool tournament play. At the end of the 8 weeks a Can-Am Championship tournament will be held. ABGC from January 16-March 6, 2009 from 6-7pm on Fridays Snye Recreation from January 18-March 8, 2009 from 2-4pm on Sundays.     BANDITS HOLD OFF SWARM, 10-9 Buffalo remains undefeated, moves to 4-0 01/24/2009 The Buffalo Bandits defeated the Minnesota Swarm 10-9 on Saturday night in front of 11,458 fans at Xcel Energy Center.     North Haverhill, NH- The White Pine Association, a non-profit organization will host the second annual snow snake competitions Sunday February 22 at 1 PM in the field next to the Haverhill Town Building, Main Street. The gym in the town building will be used for warm up and social gathering.
