The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service arrested a Cornwall Island man earlier this month following a January 2, 2009 incident in which gunshots were fired during an alleged altercation. An injured or ill Iroquois Indian would sometimes ask the False Face Society to drive away the spirit of the illness or injury. The False Face Society wore masks carved from wood.
