    Akwesasne Territory -- On Friday January 20, 2012, the Saint Regis Tribal Gaming Commission issued a letter to the Three Feathers Casino, ordering it to close its doors and cease gaming operations. “Under Tribal Law, there are only two licensed gaming properties in Akwesasne,” said Tribal Chief Mark Garrow. “They are the Mohawk Bingo Palace and the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino.     AKWESASNE MOHAWK TERRITORY—The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne is announcing that construction of the new low-level Three Nations Bridge is proceeding and that additional work will be starting this week on Kawehnoke (Cornwall Island), beginning with brush clearing.     SHOOTING – At approximately 8:30 p.m. on January 23, 2012, Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Police responded to an incident on the ice bridge where two unknown suspects shot at and struck a 31 year old Akwesasne man in the leg. The suspects stole a small amount of cash from the victim before shooting him. The suspects then fled the scene on snowmobiles.     While pondering the warm,windy weather, warm, windy and ice coated driveways I decided to look at alternatives to get rid of the ice buildup. One article was from a guy in Sweden, who uses the branches from the ground to put under his tires when he got stuck. He then uses sea salt to put on top of the ice, he tried other types of salt but had many problems associated with the salt. He also stated that sea salt mixed with sand melted the ice quickly.
