The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Department of Health is notifying community members that a new parking lot is being constructed at the Kanonkwatsheri:io Health Facility in Kanatakon. Construction has begun and will continue to the end of January. The project will expand the existing parking lot located directly in front of Kanonkwatsheri:io’s main entrance. On Sunday January 13th, 2013 a try out was hosted by Toby Sunday, Vice President of the Akwesasne Minor Hockey Association. Approximately 67 children showed up to show off their hockey skills and try for one of the spots on one of the four teams, Tyke, Novice, Atom and Peewee. Last Thursday the Potsdam Lady Sandstoners were in town for a Central Division basketball contest. The two teams played a seesaw first quarter until a rebound by Alisha Jacobs put the Lady Raiders ahead 17-15 at the end of the quarter.
